The high performance, all-round energy efficient, tri-mode hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), termed thernPolytechnic all-round efficient Supercar or shortly the Poly-Supercar is an advanced ultra-light hybridrnthat means it is powered by high-density inertial mechanical energy store, that is, the onboard three-inone,rntwin-disc flywheel (TDF) pack (with its brushless DC-AC/AC-DC macrocommutator interiorrnpermanent magnet (IPM) magnetoelectrically excited twin-disc flywheel motor/generator) that isrnbacked up by auxiliary energy sources (AES), the hydrogen (metal hydride) combustion, magnetorheologicalrnfluid (MRF) mechatronic commutator, crankless internal combustion engine (ICE), termedrnthe Fijalkowski engine (FE) or a small automotive gas turbo-generator (AGTG) that is based on thernFijalkowski turbine boosting (FTB) system and electrified highway or powered roadway designed tornextend the Poly-Supercar’s range. This paper describes a high-density inertial mechanical energyrnstoring (IMES) high-velocity TDF-powered mode secondary energy source (SES) for supercarsrn(advanced ultralight hybrids). The application of a self-contained TDF SES has the potential torneliminate the numerous safety and routing problems associated with a fire hazard or contains corrosivernmaterials. An alteration to a conventional chemoelectrical/electrochemical (C-E/E-C) storage batteryrnis devel-oped consisting of the TDF capable of inertial mechanical energy storing, such as 7.2 kWh atrn5,000 s--1 (300,000 min--1).
