Fluorescent Optical Fibers for Data Transmission

摘要

Fluorescent optical fibers offer new possibilities for building optical bus systems or rotary joints. They allow for a lateral coupling of information to a dye doped polymer fiber. Selecting the right parameters concerning lateral launch, absorption and emission wavelengths, data transfer rates beyond 500 Mbits/s are feasible.
