As far as we know, the Danish Quality Control Scheme for Pipeline Rehabilitation is the first of its kind in the worldrnand now a Quality Control Scheme for Directional Drilling and Pipe Jacking has been created as well. The DanishrnQuality Control Schemes are impartial and voluntary systems established by the NO DIG Group after years ofrnpressure from some of the largest Danish municipalities that use renovation techniques and other no digrntechniques for pipeline rehabilitation and pipeline construction. The NO DIG Group is a subsection of the Cablernand Pipe Section of the Danish Contractors’ Association.rnThe Danish Quality Control Scheme for Pipeline Rehabilitation has been in force in Denmark since 1997 whenrnthe statutory annual meeting was held on 21 March. The Control Scheme had been under preparation for somernyears as Legal and Technical Regulations had to be developed, members of the Control Committee had to bernnominated and several tests of Cured-in-place Pipes had to be carried out as a consequence of the conditions ofrnadmission. The Control Committee consists of three members representing three associations of users.rnIn 1993 the Pipe Centre of the Danish Technological Institute was engaged as consultant to the NO DIG Group tornparticipate in forming the basis of the Quality Control Scheme for Pipeline Rehabilitation. Later in the process, inrn1996, when the members of the Control Committee had been nominated, the Pipe Centre was engaged asrntechnical consultant to the Control Committee. Since 1993 the author of this paper has taken part in the ongoingrnEuropean Standardization of renovation techniques in general and in preparation of system standards especiallyrnfor “Lining with Close-fit Pipes” and “Lining with Cured-in-place Pipes”. This turned out to be an advantageousrncombination as the experience from the work on standardization was useful in the work on the Quality ControlrnScheme for Pipeline Rehabilitation. At the same time the Control Scheme has proved to be a “workshop”, where,rnin particular, parts of the system standard for “Lining with Cured-in-place Pipes” have been tried out and thernresulting experience carried back to the standardization work.rnThe Danish Quality Control Scheme for Directional Drilling and Pipe Jacking was established at the statutoryrnannual meeting on 13 March 2001. For the time being the Control Scheme includes only systems of DirectionalrnDrilling.rnThis paper presents the organization of the Danish Quality Control Schemes, i.e. the structure of the Legal andrnTechnical Regulations.
