TRACING EMERGING ISSUES IN SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE - A THEORETICAL APPROACH

A competitive advantage is to get to know new developments the first. In Management of Technology we have to deal with such aspects in our daily work. Discovering novelties among written information overload is a challenge. A lot of data or text mining and visualization tools have been developed for mapping information ("knowledge"). However we are confronted with the problem to identify unique, new, upcoming scientific and technological developments. Furthermore the basic concern of the author is to put all the experiences in bibliometrics and data analysis into the theoretical frame of Information Theory, which roots in the concept of Claude Shannon 1948. Some work are going on at several universities e.g. Fribourg in Switzerland, Technical University Catalonia, Humboldt-University Berlin. The results of this work will be taken into account as a basis for the introduced approach. Besides that the consideration of epistemological and aspects of linguistics will put this work into a holistic frame.
