COALSCAN ELEMENTAL ANALYZER AS A BLENDING CONTROL TOOL

Solar Sources operates a Kanawha Scales and Systems (KSS) batch rail loading facility at Wheatland, Indiana. A Coalscan Model 9500 Elemental Analyzer at the loadout system is used as a tool to help monitor and control the quality of the blended coal product. Comparisons between the results produced by a Coalscan Model 9500 and the traditional sampling and analysis are evaluated on a train-by-train basis. Some of the results from that ongoing program are presented to illustrate the value of controlling coal quality in real-time.
