Application of GIS-Technologies for Assessing the Disturbance of Natural Territories in the Construction of the Rybinsk Reservoir

The Rybinsk Reservoir was filled in 1947. The application of methods of historical informatics with the use of GIS-technologies made it possible to assess the disturbance of natural territories changed due to the appearance of this reservoir. After filling the bowl of the Rybinsk Reservoir, a lot of people were relocated. The eighth part of the Yaroslavl land went under water. This territories include lots of villages and Mologa city, thousand hectares of the best floodplain meadows, cultivated arable lands, highly productive pastures, mushroom and berry forests. Analysis of data using GIS-technologies allows to form a basis for drawing up expert opinions and recommendations for further use.
