In this paper, study of pure hypothetical dielectric and composite ferrite based substrate is carried out for the miniaturization of a patch antenna for UHF band applications. The permittivity and permeability with moderate values have been demonstrated to decrease with the decrease in antenna dimensions. The improved return loss and bandwidth of -36.85 dB and 30 MHz, respectively are achieved for magneto-dielectric based substrate in comparison to pure dielectric material. The designed antenna has demonstrated VSWR <; 2 at resonating frequency of 500 MHz suggesting to utilise magneto-dielectric material as substrate for futuristic miniaturized antenna.
