Lithium niobate whispering gallery mode disk resonator with high Q factor

An x-cut millimeter-size lithium niobate whispering gallery mode disk resonator is demonstrated, which is fabricated based on commercially available lithium niobate disk with diameter of 12 mm and thickness of 1 mm. The Q factor is measured using the linewidth method, which is found to be Q=1.2×10⁷, suggesting a very good condition of the WGM disk resonator. In addition, the transmission behaviors of WGM resonance under different incident angles are investigated.
