An equivalent electrical lumped component modeling of square patch antenna with L-shaped slot was designed and analyzed in this document. The equivalent element model proposed consists of two circuits connected by conductive line. The lumped element parameters were determined analytically considering the physical structure of the square patch antenna with different slots at 2.45GHz. The equivalent circuit was implemented and simulated using Advanced Design System (ADS) software. The characteristics of the proposed square patch such as the loss of gain and reflection performance can be controlled by adjusting the values of the capacitance (Cp), resistance (Rp) and inductance (Lp) at the desired frequency. The results of the equivalent circuit were compared to the CST Microwave Studio simulations and a good agreement was obtained in terms of radiation performance. The proposed patch antenna is suitable for microwave RFID applications. The simulated -10 dB return loss, bandwidth is 100 MHz (2.4 to 2.5 GHz, centered at 2.45 GHz). The simulated -3 dB axial ratio bandwidth is about 102 MHz (2.35-2.47 GHz, centered at 2.4 GHz). The overall size of the antenna is 55 × 55 × 0.6 mmn3n.
