Load altering attack is a major threat to cyber physical system, challenging the smart grid operation. It is attack against demand response and demand side management programs. In this paper we examine the vulnerability of six-bus system when subjected to dynamic load altering attack for open-loop versus closed loop attack. The results are presented for single point and multi-point attack. Dynamic load changing attack deteriorates the frequency response of the grid and may also lead to system instability. A feedback Proportional (P) and Proportional-integral (PI) controller are used in six bus closed loop system. The response of power system frequency with respect to time is examined when system is subjected to dynamic load altering attack. Results show that the proposed PI-controller causes more frequency deviation for same dynamic change in load as compared to Proportional controller.
