Increasing Demands of bandwidth intensive applications has brought many challenges for the network operators, especially in the last mile section of the network. Optical fiber has already been adopted as the workhorse in metropolitan and core networks, and is now increasingly penetrating the access domain. However, it is difficult to use the same expensive Optical devices to solve the last mile bottleneck due to the low number of users sharing the network resources. Fiber-To-The-Home FTTH Networks are anticipated to resolve the last mile bottleneck between the core and access networks by using technologies like Passive Optical Networks PONs.
