The static property in the proportional solenoid with a non-magnetic ring was analyzed with the method of Finite Element Method (FEM) as an example in order to obtain the electromagnetic force characteristic of the plunger. Different ampere-turns were adopted to get the static characteristics in the proportional solenoid, the steady magnetic field was researched during the moment of the plunger based on it. Above all, the action mechanism of the effective stroke was acquired. Numerical results show that the more the ampere-turns is, the much larger the electromagnetic force is while the much larger the electromagnetic force is in certain extent, but beyond the limit, the more the ampere-turns is, the much larger the electromagnetic force is and the less the effective stroke is. In the paper, the additional axial force is related to the distribution of the magnetic strength B on the y-Axis.
