Given the great potential of biomass in Romania, companies that use endothermic processes have the possibility switching from fossil fuel to a cheaper and more available alternative. Furthermore, through cogeneration they can reduce costs, by producing electricity for own consumption. While wooden biomass has an inferior low heat caloric value, organic fluids can be used to harvest the heat, where water and steam fail to do so. Because humidity influences the quantity of heat produced by burning wooden biomass, diathermic oil is used to level the exothermal process, thus transferring a constant amount of heat to the system. The CHPP is designed to cover the industrial heat demand of the company, while electricity is a useful byproduct that allows important cost reductions.
