This paper discusses about the performance analysis of wavelet based spectrum sensing and conventional spectrum sensing methods in fading environment for cognitive radios. Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) which gives the Probability of detection versus Probability of false alarm in terms of signal and noise power is considered to be important performance metrics of Cognitive Radio. The effects of fading is also considered while evaluating the performance in this work. Analysis of results indicates that wavelet based spectrum sensing has an edge over conventional spectrum sensing technique.
