The aim of the study was to measure the performance of RFID technology in fertilizers environment, to determine if RFID is reliable mean for identification at fertilizers manufacturer. During the research, authors were focused on examination of reading quality defined by two key performance indicators i.e. read rates and distances of reliable reading of RFID tags applied on pallets of sacks and bigbags filled with fertilizers. 20 different fertilizers were considered what consisted the whole population of fertilizers being manufactured by a company. 16 setups were experimented for each type of fertilizer. RFID was read for assumed distance and through assumed barriers for 14 fertilizers. Assumptions for reliable operation of RFID were concluded, as well as some limitations of the technology.
