Considerable wind resources are aggregated on Taiwan west coasts that adjacent to Taiwan Strait, it promotes the domestic government to develop the off-shore wind farms for the applications of renewable energy. The first MW level wind turbine testing site that be connected to the 11.4 kV distribution system is also under construction in Taiwan, which is expected to provide testing and certification services to the wind turbine manufacturers. And the assessments of grid compliance of connecting such large-scale power source to the original distribution system feeder may thus be more concerned by the electric utility and users. This paper therefore aims to perform a dynamic simulation and analysis of the distribution system feeder that serves to this wind turbine testing site then to observe the electric characteristics and responses in system. Meanwhile, the methodology of modeling wind turbine based on IEC 61400-27-1 standard is represented, and different scenarios are simulated to investigate the impact of operated wind turbine in its connected feeder.
