摘要

In this article, a novel and practical phased array antenna solution with beam steering feature in millimeter wave (mm-wave) at 28 GHz for future fifth generation (5G) cellular networks is presented. Four ultra-thin identical eight-element sub arrays comprised of well-designed quasi-Yagi are eventually arranged around along the edge regions of the mobile phone PCB. The desired direction of coverage can be achieved by switching the feeding to one of the sub arrays. Key design and consideration are investigated to deduce an broadband and broad 3D reconfigurable scanning coverage of the space with high-gain beams, good directivity and efficiency. The results of the proposed design covers a wide bandwidth of 12.8% for S11 <; -10 dB (from GHz-GHz), better than 12 dB front-to-back ratio, an average gain cover 10 dBi across the operating frequency.
