Visually comprehensible QR codes via embedding of big logos

In this paper, we tackle the problem of embedding logos into QR codes. For the ease of visual comprehension by human, it is preferred that the logo should be big, if possible. A logo-embedding scheme, which is referred to as module displacement, is proposed. In module displacement, the data modules that are corrupted by the logo are moved to hide behind those modules that are not corrupted by the logo. Moreover, the problem of decoding a logo-embedded QR code posted on a plane or a cylinder is addressed. In both cases, the QR image as captured by a camera is distorted. Therefore, some operation needs to be performed to rectify the deformation.
