This paper describes work undertaken to understandrnhow the structure of a nonwoven carbon fibre materialrndetermines its shielding effectiveness, including therneffects of fibre orientation, and contact resistance. Inrnorder to facilitate understanding of the materialrnbehaviour, software has been written to generate MonternCarlo Models (MCMs) of the material structure. Thernresults of our MCMs are compared with measurementsrnand some empirical expressions.
