Power electronics in the context of renewables, Power Quality and Smart Grids

摘要

The focus of this work is to present the state-of-the-art of Power Electronics (PE) devices and applications in power systems in the context of renewables sources, Power Quality (PQ) and Smart Grids (SG). Different converter topologies and technologies are introduced. A general framework of PE systems and the main characteristics of devices are shown together with the corresponding applications involving generation, transmission & distribution and consumers; and finally an overview of the role of PE in the SG concept and PQ impacts are presented. The main objective of this work is to serve as a general overview covering various aspects of PE systems in the context of SG.
