Optimal D-STATCOM placement in radial distribution system based on power loss index approach

摘要

In this paper, power loss index method is used for the placement of D-STATCOM in radial distribution system for reduction of line losses and improvement of voltage profile. For this, the load flow is carried out for calculating bus parameters. The mathematical modeling of D-STATCOM is performed for calculation of reactive power injections of D-STATCOM for all the buses. This reactive power value is used for finding out the optimal location of D-STATCOM by power loss index (PLI) method. Finally the proposed algorithm is tested on IEEE 10, 33 and 69-bus radial distribution system by using MATLAB software. Results show the reduction in line losses and improvement in voltage profile for all test systems.
