Circular arrays are widely used in underwater acoustics array signal processing. In this paper a generalized method is proposed to synthesis beampattern for circular array phase modes beamforming and calculate superdirective mode coefficients numerically. For an arbitrary beampattern, we propose to calculate the mode space superdirective mode coefficients based on generalized inverse matrix. Computer simulation is held for 12-elements circular array with open sphere baffle. It is found that the proposed method is able to synthesis the Maximum Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) superdirective beampattern for large frequency range. This approach can be utilized to synthesis arbitrary beampattern, indicating its wide range of application in superdirectivity beamforming.
