摘要

Manipulating and tailoring the electromagnetic wave properties of artificial negative index material, known as Metamaterials or left-handed (LH) material foresee inspiring relevance in modern radio communication systems. In particular, this paper addresses the application of left-handed material for building high performance tunable VCO (3.9-4.2 GHz) for the applications in portable and test & measurement equipments. The reported measured phase noise @ 1MHz offset is - 151dBc/Hz @ 1MHz offset from carrier with DC operating condition of 5V and 40mA, delivering output power more than 3dBm over the operating frequency band.
