Baroreceptor sensitivity has been reported to be larger in response to increases compared to decreases in systolic blood pressure. In the current work we investigate this using spontaneous changes in blood pressure during a speech protocol. It is found that these differing responses are also reflected in ARX model-based estimates of gain, but this is not observed in all individuals.
