Time domain partial wave based Euclid distance is presented for the optimization of TEM horn antenna. For the short pulse stimulated TEM horn antenna, the partial reflected waves in time domain can be related to the corresponding discontinuities. The normalized Euclid distance is then calculated from the partial reflected waves and the exciting pulse and used for the design and optimization pulse antennas. A pulse TEM horn antenna is designed to demonstrate the proposed method. The proposed partial wave based Euclid distance can be used for the design and optimization of the ultra-wideband or the short pulse antennas, thus is broadly applicable.
