We demonstrate the upstream transmission of a 5.35-Gb/s signal over a loopback configured 20-km link using an ultra-narrow spectrum-sliced incoherent light source and a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier. With the aid of transmitter de-emphasis and offset optical filtering, we achieve an uncorrected bit-error rate lower than 10 after transmission.
