Brushless DC motors are widely used for many industrial applications because of their high efficiency, high torque and low volume. In this paper, a chattering free sliding mode control for a brushless DC Motor including PID part with a fuzzy tunable gain (PIDSMFC) is designed. The main idea is that the robustness property of SMC and good response characteristics of PID are combined with fuzzy tuning gain approach to achieve more acceptable performance. Hence, the chattering is avoided and response of the system is improved against external load torque here. Simulation study has been done in Matlab/Simulink environment shows the improvements of the results compare to conventional SMFC. Finally, the result shows that the PIDSMFC approach has minimum overshoot, and minimum transient and steady state parameters, which shows the more effectiveness and efficiency than conventional SMFC model to control the speed of the motor.
