This paper presents a specific current profile to control recently proposed pseudo-sinusoidal switched reluctance motor (PSSRM), achieving a ripple-free output torque and reducing the dc input current pulsation. To generate a constant output torque, the proposed current profile is derived based on the inductance profile of PSSRM. The constant output torque eliminates the acoustic noise and the reduced DC input current ripple decreases the input DC capacitance requirements. Simulation and experimental results of 12/16, three-phase 0.5hp PSSRM verify the effectiveness of the proposed current control scheme.
