In this study, a series of heating methods were used to help dissolve a mixed flocculant Polyethylene glycol/Polyacrylamide(PEG/PAM). And this flocculant was used to treat wastewater produced in vanadium extraction from stone coal. In order to research whether or not the heating solubilization methods would lower the removal effect of pollutants in wastewater, three heating methods especially microwave at a range of temperature had been acted on PEG/PAM, and removal efficiency of pollutants in wastewater were compared when adding PEG/PAM before and after heating. The results show that heat treatments of PEG/PAM mixed flocculants almost had no effect on removal of As, Fe and pH of yielding water, but had a small effect on removal of V, Cd and volume of floc produced. Even though, they slightly affected the treatment effect of wastewater, for we can accelerate the dissolution of PEG/PAM mixed flocculants through heating them to save dissolving time and container volume without reducing the treatment efficiency.
