We adapt silicon-on-insulator 100µm-core multimode interferometer waveguides for two-dimensional microparticle trapping and manipulation. The waveguide mode fields in 1550nm wavelengths enable thermal flow assisted optical manipulation of 2.2µm polystyrene microparticles in a thin fluidic cell.
