This paper compares multimodal user interfaces (MMUI) of selected assistive robot projects in the context of Ambient Assisted Living (AAL). In particular some multimodal interaction techniques for robotic communication and assistance systems in the research projects DOMEO, HOBBIT and KSERA are outlined and compared to those in the projects ALIAS and CompanionAble. General principles of the user interfaces are discussed. Though the different projects specialise in diverse dedicated functionalities, the applied approaches regarding the MMUI were found to be very similar in the broad view.
