Angsi is an integrated oil and gas development project inrnoffshore east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It is one of thernbiggest oil producers in Malaysia, contributing one-sixth ofrnthe total national daily oil production. During its planning andrnexecution stages, the project has had many successes andrnpositive outcomes. It has been recognized as the model ofrnsuccess for all domestic and international operations inrnPETRONAS Carigali Sdn. Bhd. (PCSB).rnThe uniqueness of achievements in Angsi project relies onrnthe successfulness of integrating its people and technology.rnWith the recent skyrocketing oil price, the trend has been tornchase for additional reserves and maximize crude production,rnand make it happen by whatever means possible (newrntechnologies, joint ventures, aggressive recruitments etc).rnHowever, many projects failed to achieve these targets,rndespite being equipped with niche and advanced technologies.rnAngsi project has successfully overcome these obstacles.rnThe secret relies in the six key elements that have beenrnnurtured in the working culture of every team member, whichrnare; people, focus, integrated approach, planning,rncommunication and feedback loop. With this unique culture, itrnhas allowed the team to achieve major successes over the pastrn5 years.rnAmong those is the successful implementation of thernlargest platform-based hydraulic fracturing programrnworldwide, and first in Malaysia. This allows the developmentrn0.5 TCF gas from the otherwise uneconomic tight gasrnreservoir. The team also managed to increase its reserves levelrn2.5 times from its initial size. Consequently, it increasesrnAngsi's daily production rate from 65 to 115 kbpd. Finally,rnAngsi project successfully reduces its unit development costrn(UDC) by 67%, lowering it from 5.1 USD/boe to 1.7rnUSD/boe.This paper discusses how the six key elements haverncontributed to the successes of Angsi Field DevelopmentrnProject.
