A Novel Amplifier Linearization Method Using Pre-distortion linearizers

A new pre-distortion method that simultaneously controls AM-AM and AM-PM is proposed. Each linearizer has a pre-distortion circuit equipped with a high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) and its match circuit. This linearizer allows separately adjustment of two biased voltages and match elements to compensate the power amplifier non-linearities. In order to verify the validity of the circuit, a two-tone test and a cdma2000 signal test are performed and show about 22.5dB and 9dB improvement of third-order intermodulation(IMD3) and adjacent channel power ratio(ACPR) respectively. In this study, the impact is significant in comparison to the other potential improvement approaches.
