The ability to maintain or improve optical and physical properties of coated paper while increasing the sheetrnmoisture can be a benefit to paper makers. An examination of increased sheet moisture was performed in the twornstudies included within this report. Pigment selection was found to greatly impact the ability of the coated sheet tornwithstand calendering and printing with higher sheet moistures. High levels of fine narrow particle size distributionrn(npsd) pigments were shown to provide both glossability and an open structure, preventing blistering andrnmaintaining print register during heat set web offset (HSWO) printing yet maintaining optical and physical coatedrnpaper properties.
