Six pleated filter cartridges with different base media and geometrical dimensions were testedrnin a full-size dust collector cleaned by reverse-flow pulse jet technique. The evaluation wasrnperformed under two different cleaning modes, I.e., Clean-On-Demand and Clean-On-Time.rnThe filter cartridge performance was compared for effective residual pressure drop andrndownstream particle concentration of filters. The results show that the pleat ratio, defined as thernratio of pleat height to pleat pitch, has a great effect on the operational mode for cleaning thernfilter cartridge. Clean-On-Time mode shows better performance on filters of high pleat ratios,rnwhile Clean-On-Demand mode better for filters of low pleat ratios. Similar to the cases for flatsheetrnfilter bags, the tank pressure is critical for cleaning pleated filter cartridges, and the pulsernduration has little effect on the cleaning efficiency. With the same base media, filters with thernsurface treatment are superior to those without. The particle concentration during the pulse-jetrncleaning is at lease two times of that during filtration process for all pleated filter cartridgesrntested. The downstream particle concentration is however independent of the applied cleaningrnmode and cleaning intensity.
