The conventional processing of metal flakes from ductile materials is quite tedious, time intensive and also quite expensive. As the demand for metal flakes increases and their applications spread, there is a need for a process that can produce metal flakes in bulk quantities in a relatively inexpensive manner. This paper will discuss the attempts at processing 316L stainless steel flakes using a horizontal high-energy Simoloyer~R mill. The study will show the changes in the particle morphology with milling time, with the maximum time of milling being 30 minutes.
