Feedstock viscosity variability has been quantified and compared to green and sintered component dimensional variability. A correlation of an increase in green part dimensional variation as feedstock viscosity variation increases has been found and the correlation was independent of powder type (316 L gas-atomized and water-atomized) and mixing technique (batch and continuous). This variability is carried all the way through sintering. Therefore, feedstock viscosity variability and green component variability can be used as a predictor for sintered component variability.
