摘要

In spite of unparalleled combination of essential material properties for brake linings and clutch facings asbestos is beingrnreplaced throughout the world among friction materials since it is carcinogenic and hence a health hazard. It has been foundrnthat carbon fibres as one of the components in the brake pad material can play a vital role in this direction. Thermalrnproperties like coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and thermal conductivity of carbon fibre reinforced brake padrnsamples have been investigated. Change in the mechanical properties of the composite samples by changing fibre volumerncontents also form the part of the present study.
