The die filling of mixed powder is an important issue in the manufacturing of PM parts. The powder filling rate from the feed shoe to the mold cavity is influenced not only by the flowability of powders but also by the air-release in the die cavity. An agitator is attached in a feed shoe to accelerate the air-release from the die cavity. By using the "Agitating-shoe", filling tests were carried out using various molds. And the "Agitating-shoe" can increase the filling rate by 20□80% and decrease weight variation by 30% compared to a conventional feed shoe. The results of this investigation are reported in this paper.
