The shear strength on the interface between soil and structure at high stress levels was one of "key researches in shaft lining fracture theory. The experiments about shear characteristics on the interface between sand and structure at high stress levels were carried out in the computer high-pressure direct/residual shear apparatus DRS-1. The results showed that the relationships of the peak strength versus normal stress and the residual strength versus normal stress accord with Coulomb's law, and the peak strength and the residual strength are nearly the same. The soil on the interface between different structures at high stresses presents contraction throughout shearing. The correlation between τ and ω_s of the interface can be described by the ideal elastic-plastic model when normal stress is less than and equal to 4MPa, or be presented by the three line segment model when normal stress is greater than 4MPa.
