Reliability Analysis and Design of Rib Pillar in Underground Metal Mine

In Fenghuangshan copper mine, the backfill mining method with vertical, large diameter and long blasting hole was used in the level of 360m below the ground surface. The pillar between the two sub-stopes, termed as the rib pillar, is the key structure in the mining method. Reliability analysis is introduced to optimize the rib pillar in this paper. The anti-overturning performance function of rib pillar was put forward and the first order and second moment (FOSM) method was applied to do the reliability analysis. The results show that the rib pillar should be at least 5. Om wide.
