ENABLING THE STRATEGY-FOCUSED IT ORGANIZATION WITH BALANCED SCORECARD

Why is the relationship between Information Technology organizations and the business so often strained? IT often focuses on reducing cost and keeping systems running, while the business needs IT to emphasize value creation. Progressive IT managers are using the Balanced Scorecard management framework to enable IT organizations to achieve true strategic partnership with business units. Adapted from an article in Harvard Business School Publishing's Balanced Scorecard Report, this paper provides a conceptual approach to using Balanced Scorecard in IT organizations.
