摘要

Although helical point geometry drills have been proposed and developed as an alternative to planar point geometry drills, there does not exist an accurate and flexible method of manufacturing these drills. This paper presents a prototype helical drill point grinder based on the helical drill point grinding method. The design of the prototype grinder is described and the relation to the grinding method is established. The paper then focuses on the design and implementation of the controller, both hardware and software. The algorithm to be used for grinding the drills and the mathematical equations necessary for calculating the parameters of the program are developed and presented.
