This paper will examine some of the more than 70 technologies that the Mound TritiumrnDecommissioning and Decontamination (D&D) LSDDP has considered for demonstration. AnrnIntegrated Contractor Team (ICT), made up of individuals representing both Department ofrnEnergy (DOE) sites and the commercial sector, is using a multi-phase process to identify, screen,rnevaluate and where applicable develop and implement a plan to demonstrate candidaterntechnologies. The demonstrated technology is then compared against the baseline technologyrnconsidering factors such as cost, performance, and safety. The D&D areas of need for innovativerntechnology include characterization, decontamination, demolition and dismantlement, and wasternmanagement/pollution prevention. The paper will discuss the results of several successfulrn“demos” along with lessons learned from those that did not necessarily proceed as anticipated.rnThe process for communicating demo results and deploying technologies to other sites will bernconsidered. The paper will also review the types of technologies scheduled for demonstration inrnFY 00 and FY 01 and identify areas where the ICT is still looking for viable candidates.
