In modern demolition industry much development of special machinery and demolition techniques have taken place in order to meet requirements of environmental protection and recycling of building materials. The use of explosives and the role of blasting techniques in the demolition industry have also developed with a special regard to the requirements of control of the impact to the environment and risk management. The paper presents the state-of-art of the use of explosives in demolition of concrete structures, buildings and other constructions highlighting: Mini-Blasting of concrete, blasting of high-rise structures, structures, and blasting of special structures, e.g. offshore structures.
