Large spherical granules of magnesium (diameter 5-15 mm) are used in manufacturing of siliconorganic monomers by method of permanent magnesiumorganic synthesis. [1] Large granules are preferred; granules of smaller size and mass carried away with the products of synthesis and decompose because of the secondary reactions with hydrogen formation that causes the explosiveness of the process. Besides size, such granules should have dense structure and high content of the main component-magnesium. The process based on the monodecomposition of magnesium jets in the salt melt was worked out in Russian Research and Design Institute of Titanium and A VISMA Magnesium and Titanium and Magnesium Works. For the process implementation the metal in the form of the required diameter, moving with the given rate, is introduced into the salt me the temperature of the salt melt is lower than the temperature of magnesium crystallization. The waves of the internal pressure are generated in the metal by means of magnetic hydrodynamic methods, which casue the jets decomposition in drops of equal size.
