The CRT must be able to withstand thermal processing in the factory. The frit-seal processing of flatter-shaped CRT's using conventional thermal profiles and belt speeds results in increased panel breakage at the corners. We examine the stresses of both the conventional and true flat CRT's during this process including the effect of preheating the bulbs
