The present work aims to reduce dominant current harmonics (5th, 7th, 11th and 13th) for a harmonically balanced system, at the point of common coupling, of a 240V (rms) utility by using two shunt hybrid active filters, connected parallel to each other. Phase Locked Loop free, Modified Synchronous Reference frame theory has been used for detection of harmonics. A three phase uncontrolled bridge rectifier, producing harmonically balanced condition of equal magnitude of 6k±1 (where k is an integer) current harmonics in all phases, has been used as the source of current harmonics. The Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation technique has been used to generate gating pulses for the active filter (three phase IGBT inverter). Matlab SIMULINK model is used to carry out the research work.
