In spite of a lot of works related to transient analysis of grounding systems, more detailed analysis of the influence of different parameters on their performances are available only for ground grids. In power distribution systems and in telecommunication installations, ground rods are widely used in some countries. All conclusions in transient analysis for ground grids are not fully applicable for ground rods. Thus, complementary studies of influence of some parameters on the transient performances of ground rod are of importance. This paper presents analysis of ground rod length, burial depth, soil relative permittivity and shape of current impulse on Transient Ground Potential Rise. Simulations are done by using current diffusion approximation in the soil.
