FORMING FABRICS: PRACTICAL APPLICATION CONSIDERATIONS

A broad, practical overview of basic forming fabric design considerations, together with a proposed logical 'engineered approach', are presented as application factors for the major paper and board grades. The influence of top surface topography and drainage orifice characteristics on paper properties and machine performance are discussed The influence of fabric structures on print quality is also included.
